Trauma-informed counselling or traditional talk therapies do not include trauma processing treatment. Talk therapies generally focus on psychological health in a person's present thoughts and feelings and apply rational thinking to improve the situation, which will only access the conscious awareness in your mind. Talking therapies help you to clarify goals and explore your beliefs and values; however, they do not have access to the unconscious mind, where deep trauma and persistent issues are repressed and retained in the limbic system.
Research in neuroscience and epigenetics tells us that accessing the brain to heal trauma can be effective, safe, and long-lasting. By clearing one neural pathway at a time in only a few sessions, permanent change for a person can be possible.
